Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr’s Rare Friendship Explained

When your ex and their new significant other are involved, it can be difficult to maintain a healthy connection. When people are not only on good terms with their ex-partners and present partners, but are also close friends with them, it comes as a surprise.

Miranda Kerr and Katy Perry, both of whom have children with Orlando Bloom, Perry’s current boyfriend, and Kerr’s ex-husband, have the same situation. She was caught earlier this month at Kerr’s firm Kora Organics event and posing with her on Instagram. Perry, who welcomed her first child with Bloom last year, was also pictured at Kerr’s event earlier this month.

“You two are the sweetest,” Bloom said in Perry’s post’s comment area.

I adore Katy and I’m so glad that Orlando has found someone who makes his heart so happy,” Kerr said on The Drew Barrymore Show in November. “I simply feel so thrilled that Orlando has found someone who makes his heart so happy,” Kerr said. The fact that Flynn has a happy father and mother is the most essential thing, therefore I’m pleased that Orlando and Katy were able to be married.”

Is Perry and Kerr’s connection a common one? Marriage and family therapist Lesli Doares says it’s “Unusual” for mixed families to get along this well.

In many cases, Doares says, “the relationship is not cordial because one party hasn’t dealt with the split yet.” Because of the unresolved sentiments around it – blame, grief, rage, hurt etc. — they are held prisoner.” When you’re still mourning, hurting financially, or didn’t want the breakup, it may be extremely difficult to see your spouse go on to someone else. When faced with the new reality, the same conflicts are waged again.”

If the new spouse is not “confident enough in their relationship” and feels intimidated by the ex-partner, Doares says, it can lead to problems with alimony payments, child support and parenting decisions, among other things.

Jones brings this out: “As a result, a great deal of this stems from a lack of personal reflection and emotional control abilities. In the end, it will just lead to more tension and animosity, which will infect the new dynamic.”

As long as both parties are emotionally mature and ready to make the relationship work, it is feasible for friendships to emerge among these blended families

Each individual needs to cope with their own feelings, both in terms of the breakup and the new connections, she says. They both sincerely want the other person to be happy. They each wish one other well and hope for the best. They also prioritise their children’s comfort before their own.”

As a result, children in blended homes might benefit from parents who get along with one other and their spouses.

“It’s good for the kids,” Doares says. “The more people who care about and support them, the better off they will be. Kids may focus on themselves when grownups get along, instead of worrying about keeping their parents safe and happy. “

When every adult in the family gets along, she says, “there is no allegiance or treachery.”

“It teaches the children that life can carry on in a healthy and caring way after a divorce,” she says. In addition, when all adults are on the same page, it may make custody and parenting simpler.

There are several benefits to this show, according to Jones: “The children grow up as a cohesive family, they can learn from an amicable conclusion to a difficult situation, and they can understand how to care for someone even after such a terrible experience.”

If Kerr and Perry remain on pace, they will likely continue to be “the cutest” co-parents in their mixed family, as Kerr and Perry describe themselves.
