Why is #VenmoMe Trending on Twitter? What’s the deal?
Venmo is a mobile payment service based in the United States that was created in 2009 and has been owned by PayPal since 2012. Venmo was created to let friends and family share costs, such as movie tickets, food, rent, or event tickets. Account users can send money to others via a mobile phone app; the sender and receiver must both be residents of the United States. In the first quarter of 2018, the corporation processed $159 billion in transactions.
Venmo is offering $10,000 as a promotional stunt to add new users as well as encourage existing account holders to use the payment app more.

About Venmo
Venmo displays every peer-to-peer transaction (except the amount) by default, a feature that researchers have found to reveal sensitive information about users’ lives in some circumstances. The corporation reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission in 2018 for various privacy and security issues relating to this and other services, and made adjustments to the settings as a result. Venmo, on the other hand, has been chastised for putting users’ privacy at danger.
