Beyoncé’s Adidas x IVY Park collection depicts the tale of Black cowboys and cowgirls, a story that is frequently neglected. Her athleisure brand honors Black Americans who helped build American cowboy history and the Western frontier as a youth. Similar to the rest of her work, she uses this collection to raise social awareness and educate.
“The Houston Rodeo is a stew of family, connection, wonderful cuisine, and varied styles of music,” Beyoncé stated in an exclusive statement to the Houston Chronicle. Growing up, I was exposed to singers like as Selena and Frankie Beverly as well as Maze.
Today’s musicians range from Kacey Musgraves to Mary J. Blige. Trail riders from all across the country rode to the Houston Rodeo.”
Tobe Nwigwe and Monaleo from Houston, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson, and actor and real-life cowboy Glynn Turman star in the glossy campaign for her IVY Park Rodeo line, which goes on sale Aug. 19 at adidas.com/us/ivypark and at select Adidas stores.
Featuring buckles, chaps and a cow pattern in an unusual purple-brown combination, the collection is a fusion of fashion and Western heritage.” A wide-leg denim bodysuit, a denim tracksuit, and a bucket hat are among the pieces. A canvas waist bag and even a cowboy hat are also included in the assortment.
As Beyoncé explained, “I discovered how many Black, brown and Native cowboy stories are absent from American history.” My roots in Houston and all those who appreciate fried Snickers and fried turkey legs make me happy to represent Houston culture and my roots.
Nwigwe, a Houston native who studied fashion marketing at the University of North Texas, expressed his gratitude to the celebrity for choosing him to be a part of her new collection.
“She likes what we do and wanted us to be a part of what she’s doing. “It was a really special occasion,” Nwigwe said during an interview at Gatlin’s BBQ, where he was dressed in an IVY Park Rodeo sweatshirt and shorts in an ambient pink hue that he claimed complimented “dark chocolate” complexion tones like his.
In addition to his upcoming role in “Transformers: Rise of the Beast,” the rapper is nominated for an Emmy for his work on the Beats by Dre commercial “You Love Me.” It was released late last year, and he narrates it for two minutes.

Bill Katz, an African American historian and author of “The Black West,” says becoming a cowboy was one of the few occupations available to men of color following the Civil War.
These cowboys have influenced rodeo and Hollywood, as seen by Netflix’s “Concrete Cowboy” with Idris Elba. Black cowboys and cowgirls have also joined rallies for racial justice around the nation.
Beyoncé’s family has a long history of paying respect to Black heritage. “When I Get Home” was released in 2019 by Solange Knowles, and Jay-Z, Beyoncé’s husband, is producing “The Harder They Fall,” a film based on real-life cowboys and historical personalities of the American West, such as Bill Pickett, Stagecoach Mary and Cherokee Bill.
Rodeo culture was a big part of Knowles Lawson’s youth in Galveston.
We went to prison rodeos in Huntsville and Houston when I was a child, but when studying about the West and how it was formed, Black cowboys are left out of the narrative. Just knowing that they played a significant role in the IVY Park Rodeo promotion warms Knowles Lawson’s heart.
Black rodeo culture and history are important to Turman, an Emmy-winning actor who appeared in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” alongside Chadwick Bosman before his death.
Aside from that, he runs an organisation that conducts a horseback riding and outdoor camp for inner-city youngsters at his ranch in California.
Melinda Turman, who has been riding horses since she was a baby, and Turman, who had given her property to Beyoncé at any moment, were included in Turman’s invitation.
“Black cowboys have made such a significant contribution to the development of the West and the heritage of cowboy history. However, unlike other parts of the country’s construction, we were left out of the narrative. So it’s wonderful to see that they’re now being recognized and rewarded for their contributions to cowboy history.”
Beyoncé, a native of Houston, Texas, has expressed her desire to keep the Yeehaw Agenda alive. With her current Ivy Park collection, Ivy Park Rodeo, and a new campaign in which she stars, she pays tribute to Black cowboys and cowgirls.
Since starting her activewear brand, Beyoncé has worked hard to make each of her advertisements better than the previous, bringing in more surprising talent than before. Blue Ivy Carter, Ivy Park’s daughter, starred in the Adidas x Ivy Park “ICY” ad for Februarydrop. She recruited the aid of Paloma Elsesser, Orville Peck, and Snoh Aalegra for the Ivy Park Rodeo.
Glynn Turman, a real-life rodeo champion, also appears heavily in the ad (because if Ivy Park Rodeo is good enough for Beyoncé and a real-life cowboy to wear while wrangling his horses, it’s good enough for the general public or the Beyhive, right? ).
But the real star is Beyoncé. It’s hard to miss the singer and creative director with her matching Ivy Park Rodeo cow print sports bra top, leggings, and gloves, complete with long braided mane. Cowboy hats abound in the freshly posted Instagram video as well.
The Brown Skin Girls singer takes centre stage in the ambitious video, which features a slew of celebrities such as R&B artist Snoh Aalegra and Emmy-winning actor Glynn Turman.
Beyonce is seen tilting a white cowboy hat towards the camera before revealing her denim body complete with a belt and thigh-high boots from the collection, transporting us to a rodeo in the southern United States.
For dramatic effect, a massive fire organically blazes behind Queen Bey as she marches past — evidently, Beyonce is done with wind turbines and is all about straight up flames now.
39-year-old Beyonce is subsequently seen throwing a lasso around among hay bales while wearing a cow print combination of leggings, crop top, and gloves.
While Beyonce keeps her part of the commercial steamy, Glynn keeps it pure by enjoying horseback riding lessons with his granddaughter Melinda.
The How To Get Away With Murder star, who grew up in New York City, has always had a love with horses, so his inclusion in the commercial isn’t by chance.
The actor and his wife, Jo-Ann, co-founded Camp Gid D Up for inner city children, which is a free summer camp that teaches western-style skills to at-risk youth.
A team-roping champion in 1999, Glynn finished in the top five at both the regional and national championship levels.
In 2011, the Western Heritage Multi-Cultural Museum honored the Wire actor into its Hall of Fame.
Having left Topshop in 2018, Beyonce signed with Adidas in January 2020 and launched her first Adidas x Ivy Park collection in January 2020.
