John Legend Always Focus on Being The “Best”
John Legend still tries to make his work the “best” he has ever done so far.
The hit-maker of ‘All of Me‘ does not win prizes, but he still wishes that whatever he plans to do will be much better than he has done before.
He said: “It’s just about working on the job, writing music, wanting to get better as an artist and being as successful as I can. I am working on the project quite immediately and I try to make it the best project I ever did.
“With the sense of wanting to top myself I approach every album to be better than I ever was. And I believe I can only continue if I continue to concentrate on work and try and be the best I can do.”
The 41-year-old musician, with his wife Chrissy Teigen and Luna, four and Miles, two, admitted that when he begins to work on a new album he has no clear plan in mind.
He said in an interview, “I’ve only really started to compose each album with various people, I think I want to write to and occasionally my managers recommend me, or I come across someone with whom I think I’d be interested in collaborating with.
“You never knew what’s going to come from those sessions, you’re just going to try out ideas, and you’re getting to see where your mind is and what excites you at the moment, musically.
“Before I begin working on the album I don’t know what it is going to be about. But the songs continue to tell me where my head is and where I want to go.”
